Labyrinths
Labyrinths are forms that date back to the Neolithic. They are all around us, they were there in the past and they are there in the present. They are found in ancient cultures all over the world. They are present in all religions and spiritual traditions. Labyrinths are forms with one entrance, one path and one centre. Unlike a maze, one cannot get lost in them. Their use belongs to the category of techniques to increase energy and intelligence. To have power is not only to have access to a large amount of energy, but also to have access to a large amount of intelligence. The term power also presupposes the existence of wisdom. When you combine all these elements, energy, intelligence and wisdom, these are real patterns of power that cannot be abused. It is not about relationships with other people, but about the capacity to create, to live and act in the world and in time. Labyrinths can therefore accelerate progress in our lives and thus improve them. The shape of the labyrinth is important when it is used, so that we can almost touch their power, they fascinate us, they are mysterious. It is hard to deny their influence on human consciousness, and when present in the environment, the labyrinth has an extremely positive impact on the whole environment, creating balance in the space where it is located and in the body of planet Earth itself.
The shape of the labyrinth
The shape of the labyrinth can be expressive or receptive, it is the same labyrinth in mirror form. The term expressive implies movement along the paths to the left of the entrance. This in turn means the movement of energy from the person using the labyrinth towards the surroundings. The term receptive, on the other hand, means movement along the paths to the right of the entrance. Here the movement of energy is inwards, towards the person using the labyrinth. Expressive movement stimulates new activity, creation and expression, while receptive movement denotes acceptance, maintenance, continuity, protection and preservation. The direction of the labyrinth is the direction of our gaze, when we are standing before the entrance of the labyrinth. Despite many turns into different directions already at the entrance, the right direction is the one that connects the labyrinth's entrance with its centre through an imaginary line.
Pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc
The labyrinths you find on these pages are depicted on pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc. They are designed as cups, pendants or pictures on the wall in the surroundings. You can walk along their paths at any time to a quiet centre and bring peace and strength to act from it. You can feel their magic and mystery for yourself, and enrich your surroundings with it. There are nine natural shapes of labyrinths, seven of which have their own mirrored shape, so there can be from nine to 16 different labyrinth products in the collection. Of course, every single, unique pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc with a labyrinth is also available. The texts describing the labyrinths are taken from the book Labyrinths and their Secrets by Adrian P. Kezele.
