The Municipality of Novo mesto has decided to launch a project for the production of protocol products in 2022 with the participation of pottery art clay designer Polona Zajc. The selected protocol products in 2022 were a bowl with two seahorses taken from the Novo mesto situla, a ceramic goblet On Many Years, taken from a glass goblet with a Greek inscription found at an archaeological site in Novo mesto and a candle holder with figuration of the Novo mesto situla. The candlestick-ring was already presented in the framework of the project Novo mesto- mesto Situl.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

BOWL WITH TWO HORSES<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The bowl with two horses was modelled on a Hallstatt bowl, called a gubanka because of the cells on its surface. It is one of the finds from the grave on Kapiteljska njiva in Novo mesto. It is accompanied by two horses, a symbol taken from the Novo mesto situla.\u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0The bowl with the two little horses is made on a potter's spindle from black stoneware and glazed with a matt grey glaze, which gives it an antique appearance. The two horses serve as decoration and as handles for a better grip.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

The Halstatt bowl is a perfectly useful vessel for serving food, but above all it represents a historical period and contains the symbols of the idea of Novo mesto - mesto Situl. As well as all the protocol products in this project.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The ceramic goblet For Many Years is one of the products of the project for the production of protocol products for 2022. Its relief and shape are taken from a glass goblet found at Br\u0161ljin, an archaeological site in Novo mesto. It is a goblet with a Greek inscription.<\/p>

It is made of black stoneware, glazed with a dirty white mat glaze. The relief on the goblet contains the Greek inscription Na mnoga leta with decoration, and a phrase translated Na mnoga leta is added.\u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0The goblet with the Greek inscription is a perfectly serviceable vessel for drinking water and, of course, other beverages. So it has a primarily utilitarian value and is not just for decoration on a shelf.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The candlestick with the figuration of the Novo Mesto situla is essentially a candlestick-circulator. In the centre, the surface is dedicated to a round candle, and towards the edge, bands of symbols from the mantle of the Novo mesto situla are arranged.\u00a0<\/p>

The candlestick-ring is made on a potter's spindle, and the surface is stamped with a relief from the mantle of the situla with all the details. It is glazed in a delicate green patina glaze, reminiscent of the original situla, while the details stand out in black, which is also the colour of the clay.<\/p>

The candlestick with the figuration of a Novo mesto situla is a useful product. Its image brings to life all the beauty of the products made in the time of the situls.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc has collaborated with the Municipality of Novo mesto in the design of protocol products in 2022. All the resulting products are of high quality, made from quality clay and glazes. They are made exclusively by hand, mostly on a potter's spindle. Polona Zajc's pottery art clay design protocol products always contain a story. They are mostly based on archaeological templates of finds in the area of Novo mesto or on some other idea or personality.
