Unique clay grass plate

Unique clay grass plate is a product of pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc. It is a unique, handmade plate made of white clay. Different grasses are stamped into the surface. Their impressions are highlighted with blue colour. The rim of the plate is glazed with an antique gold glaze, while the surface is glazed with a transparent glaze that cracks in contact with the air, creating an interesting aged ceramic effect. The decorative plate is fired at 1030°C. It measures 30 cm in diameter.

Handmade ceramic grass plate

The handmade ceramic grass plate is a decorative plate that brightens up the surroundings in which it is placed. I shaped the white clay on a potter's spindle into a plate. After a short drying time, I pressed into the surface various grasses from a neighbour's meadow at the time when it was at its most vigorous. Each grass left a unique impression in the soft clay. After the first firing, I painted the surface with blue paint, which caught the impressions of the grasses. I coated the grass with an interesting transparent glaze which cracks as soon as it comes into contact with cold air. This creates a wonderful effect of interweaving countless tiny lines that give texture to the surface of the plate. The shapes of the printed grasses seep through the surface. The result is a unique clay grass plate, which, with its distinctive appearance, is intended to enliven and decorate the furniture in any home where it is placed.
