The handmade ceramic tiles are the product of pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc. These are exclusively hand-formed clay tiles, made using the clay rolling process. A centimetre thick, even layer of clay is cut into different shapes. Once fired, the tiles are hand-painted and fired again. This roughly creates a bespoke mosaic for a specific surface.

Pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc also offers handmade clay tiles. They can be made as a mosaic covering a specific surface or as individual tiles with impressions or reliefs of labyrinth symbols. This is a mosaic of tiles made to order.
A bespoke mosaic tile
A bespoke mosaic tile is made to the exact dimensions of the surface it is intended to cover. The production process starts with drawing the theme represented by the mosaic. This is known as ceramic slicing, as the entire surface is dressed in clay tiles. The paper template is the base from which the shapes are cut into the soft clay. After a short drying period, the lines that make up the mosaic pattern are incised. The tiles are marked with numbers, just as they are marked on the paper. After firing once, apply the colours and fire again. The result is a mosaic that is perfectly adapted to the surface to which it will be glued. The theme of the mosaic is chosen in collaboration with the client, thus linking the space and the ambience in which the customised ceramic mosaic is placed.
Ceramic labyrinth panels
Ceramic labyrinth panels are a product of pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc. These are larger or smaller handmade clay plates on which the symbol of each labyrinth is imprinted or embossed. There can also be several labyrinths on one plate at the same time. The hand-formed clay panels are made as a picture to hang on the wall, or as a panel to be fixed on the wall with tile glue. It stands out as a special detail among other ceramic tiles.
