Pendant with Jupiter labyrinth

The Jupiter Labyrinth Pendant is one of the ceramic pottery art clay design products by Polona Zajc. It is part of a series of pendants with labyrinths as ceramic jewellery. The pendant with a cord and a clasp represents the Labyrinth of Wisdom or Jupiter's Labyrinth in a receptive form. It is made by the process of stamping clay into a plaster model of her own making. Made of red clay, glazed and fired at 1040°C. Diameter 3,5 cm, length of cord 22 or 27 cm. The shape of the labyrinth gives the product a special meaning, as each labyrinth carries certain characteristics and functions.

Pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc also has a series of labyrinth pendants as ceramic jewellery in her collection of ceramic products. Each pendant bears a different relief print of a labyrinth, which affects the wearer and the surroundings in which it is placed. The shape of the labyrinth is accentuated by the colour specific to each individual labyrinth. The use of a labyrinth can be versatile. It is common to walk along its paths, as most mazes are placed on the ground. Or they can be walked in the mind, following a shape that is carved into a pendant with, for example, the Labyrinth of Jupiter, or otherwise depicted. The effect is the same.

The Labyrinth of Wisdom

The Labyrinth of Wisdom, or Jupiter's Labyrinth, can also be called the Labyrinth of Knowledge. The main themes of this labyrinth are learning and teaching. From birth onwards, we humans learn. Part of wisdom is continuous learning and progress. If the pursuit of knowledge is absent, negative traits such as possessiveness, prejudice, poor judgement and impatience begin to manifest themselves in people's lives. And it is these that the present receptive form of the Wisdom Labyrinth will counteract. Part of non-wisdom is the conviction that there is only one truth, which one represents by one's own way of life. The failure to understand and accept difference, or to elevate oneself above others, is the result of ignorance. And this problem can be helped by using the Wisdom Labyrinth in its receptive form.
