Venus's Labyrinth on a Plate
The Venus Labyrinth on a Plate is part of a series of labyrinths engraved on ceramic plates. The ceramic works by Polona Zajc’s “Pottery Art” clay design studio also feature depictions of labyrinths of all kinds. This particular labyrinth is the Labyrinth of Love and Creativity, or Venus Labyrinth, in its natural, receptive form. The plate is handcrafted on a potter’s wheel from gray clay. The symbol of Venus’s labyrinth is engraved into it. It was fired at a temperature of 1210°C. The clay plate features various engraved patterns painted with colored glazes, while the labyrinth is glazed with a shimmering, iridescent blue-violet glaze. The details are accented with real gold. The plate has a diameter of 31 cm. The labyrinth design gives the piece special significance, both for the person wearing it and for the environment in which it is placed.
Pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc
Pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc features clay plates in her collection. Each clay plate represents its own labyrinth design. These are sources of power that are very much active. Having power does not mean having access to a large amount of energy, but also having access to a great deal of intelligence. And this is how labyrinths work. Usually, they are built on the ground so that one can walk along their paths. On these pages, however, you’ll find labyrinths depicted in ceramics. We can also “walk” through these as we follow their paths, drawn or carved into the clay.
Labyrinth of love and creativity
The Labyrinth of Love and Creativity represents all internal and external experiences related to falling in love, emotions, and sexuality. At the same time, it is also a labyrinth of creativity, which is linked to fertility and the creation of new life. The benefits of the Labyrinth of Love and Creativity are important for everyone. In particular, its receptive form will benefit all artists—or rather, all creators. Walking through or utilizing its expressive form will neutralize the negative aspects of love—namely, greed and jealousy—which stem from fear, which is in itself the opposite of love. Venus’s labyrinth is closely linked to the realm of enjoyment and happiness. Using it will increase our ability to enjoy what we have and strengthen our capacity to create new abundance. This labyrinth is also closely connected to the body. It represents fertility, which is why the labyrinth of love and creativity is also very important for the environment in which it is located. It attracts precisely this loving and creative energy and then radiates it out.
