The Sun Labyrinth on a Plate

The Sun Labyrinth on a Plate is part of a series of labyrinths engraved into ceramic plates. The ceramic works by Pottery Art—Polona Zajc’s clay designs—also feature depictions of labyrinths of all kinds. This particular labyrinth is the Sun Labyrinth, or Labyrinth of Power, in its natural, expressive form. The plate is handcrafted on a potter’s wheel from gray clay. The symbol of the Labyrinth of Power is carved into it. It was fired at a temperature of 1210°C. The clay plate features various carved patterns painted with colored glazes, while the labyrinth is glazed with a reddish-orange glaze. The details are accented with real gold. The plate has a diameter of 31 cm. The labyrinth design gives the piece special significance, both for the person who owns it and for the environment in which it is placed.

The Labyrinth of Power is the oldest and best-known form of labyrinth. Its associated element is fire, and its colors are gold, copper, and fiery orange. Its direction is east, and its natural form is expressive. The Sun Labyrinth represents and fosters personal power. This is the power that involves the ability to realize and materialize a specific idea through a specific activity. The path to the center of the Labyrinth of Power is an inner journey toward our true self or soul. The usefulness of the Labyrinth of Power lies in its ability to act as a catalyst for inner strength, personal status, and self-confidence.
