Clay bowl with marine motif

Clay bowl with sea motif is a product of pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc. It is made on a pottery spindle from white clay. It has a sculpted pattern around the rim forming a sea motif. The pattern is painted with different shades of green-blue. The whole bowl is glazed with a delicate light blue glaze. Its characteristic feature is that it makes small cracks in some places, giving the bowl a characteristic rustic look. The light blue bowl is a wide open bowl in shape. After firing at 1200 °C, the bowl is made of white stoneware. The diameter is 34 cm and the height is 7 cm.

The gold is applied by hand, with a brush, and is completely durable, as it is fired with a third firing at 800°C. This includes a clay bowl with a marine motif.

Light blue clay bowl

The light blue clay bowl is a unique bowl. It is made entirely by hand on a potter's spindle. When the moulded clay hardens slightly after turning, I cut a pattern with a sea motif around the rim. I paint it with colours in shades of blue and green. To give the impression of the sea, I glaze it with a soft, almost transparent blue glaze, which forms small cracks. These add a touch of water to the whole story. The result is a wide open bowl. It may be purely decorative, but its shape invites you to fill it with fruit or other dry food. So it will always be present in our kitchen, or any other living space.
