A JAR WITH A SITULA COAT FROM THE VAČE
The jar with a situla mantle from Vače was created as a challenge. A challenge whether it is possible to make a plaster model in one piece with relief. And not to erase the relief at the stage when the clay is still soft and the piece is separated from the model. Yes, it is a purely technical challenge that drove the whole process of the work.
The coat of the situla from Vače has a wonderful figuration that is more than suitable for this project. So first of all, I had to sculpt all the details in plaster to get a print of the cloak. I applied this impression to a rotated clay jar. I then poured the plaster over the prototype to get a model suitable for casting in liquid clay. After drying the model, the first clay situla jar was made. Black stoneware and different colours of glazes were the material of choice for this product. It is the highest quality choice, which is why the product is of the highest quality.
It turned out that the clay situla jar became a culinary souvenir of central Slovenia and that these products participated as situla jars in the EU Presidency.
A CULINARY SOUVENIR OF CENTRAL SLOVENIA
The clay situla jar was made at the time when the Tourist Board launched a competition for the Culinary Souvenir of Central Slovenia. I entered the competition. The product was placed in the category of kitchen utensils. I gave the jar with the situla coat from Vače an elegant black box and added a certificate with a short text describing the product and its purpose. Oh, and the situla jar won a gold award in this competition.
GLASSES OF SITULA ON THE OCCASION OF THE EU PRESIDENCY
The situla glasses were not the only culinary souvenir of central Slovenia to receive a gold award. The quality of the products could make them a protocol product. That is why I offered them for partnership in the EU Presidency, which took place in the first half of 2021. I agreed with the organisers of the Presidency-related events to make 100 pieces of glasses and 5 pieces of water jugs. They were used to serve water and other beverages at various events related to Slovenia's EU Presidency at Brdo pri Kranju. In this way, the situla glasses became protocol products for the EU Presidency.
POTTERY ART CLAY DESIGN BY POLONA ZAJC
Pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc has a wide variety of ceramic and stoneware items in her collection. All of them are made exclusively by hand in various clay moulding techniques. Most of them are unique, meaning that they are inimitable, made only once. There are also products that are made in batches, which are not large in quantity. These are mostly made to order, for various companies and individual clients, in this case protocol products. These products are also made to order, or are selected for protocol, such as the situla glasses shown here
