Description
Jupiter's labyrinth on a cup
The Jupiter Labyrinth on a cup is a symbol of a labyrinth carved into a ceramic cup. It is made by hand on a potter's spindle from grey-white clay. Its interior is covered with black clay. On the outside is the Labyrinth of Wisdom or Labyrinth of Jupiter. The cup is fired at 1040 °C. It is glazed with a suitable glaze (LOT15) on the surfaces where it comes into contact with foodstuffs. The height of the cup is 11 cm, the diameter 10 cm. The Jupiter labyrinth on the cup gives the pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc a special meaning and use.
Pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc
Polona Zajc's Pottery art clay design collection includes hand-turned cups made from the finest quality clay. The cups have a labyrinth symbol carved on the outside. Since there are nine different shapes of labyrinths, seven of which have their own mirror image, this makes 16 different labyrinth shapes, i.e. 16 different cups. They are useful for eating and storing food, as well as for decoration, because the different labyrinths give them a special charm and effect both on the person using them and on the surroundings.
The Labyrinth of Wisdom
In addition to being called the Labyrinth of Jupiter, the Labyrinth of Wisdom can also be called the Labyrinth of Knowledge. It is linked to the acquisition of knowledge. Of course, there are several types of knowledge acquisition. In schools, it is mainly about acquiring large amounts of information. However, scholarship is not just the accumulation of a quantity of information, but at its foundations is a disposition towards the acquisition of knowledge. And part of wisdom is continuous learning and progress. That is why the Wisdom Labyrinth, which encourages this process in us all, either by its use or by its mere presence, in our case on the ceramic cup, is so important. It will be particularly useful for pupils and students and all those who are learning new skills, but it is also excellent for teachers or anyone who imparts knowledge. In addition to these qualities, the purpose of the labyrinth also encompasses deeper levels of wisdom. For example, doing the right thing at all times, regardless of the knowledge we have about a particular situation.
