Ketu's Labyrinth on a Sculpture
The Ketu Labyrinth on this figurine is part of a series of labyrinths carved into ceramic figurines. The ceramic works by Pottery Art—Polona Zajc’s clay creations—also feature depictions of labyrinths of all kinds. This particular labyrinth is the Ketu Labyrinth, also known as the Labyrinth of Freedom. The figurine is handcrafted from black clay and features the symbol of the Labyrinth of Freedom carved into it. It is fired at a temperature of 1210°C. The clay figurine is glazed in shades of gray, while the labyrinth is glazed with a shimmering, iridescent glaze that transitions from light to dark blue. The details are accented with real gold. The figurine is 25 cm tall. The labyrinth design gives the piece special significance, both for the person wearing it and for the surroundings in which it is placed.
Pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc
Polona Zajc’s pottery art clay designs include clay figurines in her collection. Each clay sculpture represents its own form of a labyrinth. These are sources of power that are very much active. Having power does not mean having access to a large amount of energy, but also having access to a great deal of intelligence. And this is how labyrinths work. Usually, they are built on the ground so that one can walk along their paths. On these pages, however, you’ll find labyrinths depicted in ceramics. We can also “walk” through these as we follow their paths, drawn or carved into the clay.
The Labyrinth of Freedom
The Labyrinth of Freedom, or Ketu’s Labyrinth, erases boundaries and uproots patterns through its action. In doing so, it also brings about transformation—one that is even more purposeful, systematic, and thorough. Moving through this labyrinth will lead us to a place beyond where we are now. In this sense, the Labyrinth of Freedom is entirely spiritual. Expressive movement through this labyrinth will deepen mental acuity, logic, mathematical abilities, and insight. Receptive movement, on the other hand, will help eliminate fear, panic, unease, and restlessness. It will be used by people under great stress. The environment where this labyrinth is located becomes open to deep inner insights, and people in its vicinity become wiser. The Labyrinth of Freedom represents those at the bottom of the social ladder; it is connected to spiritual beings and animals. Where Ketu’s labyrinth is present, a positive influence on nature and a balanced relationship among different animal species can be felt.
