Clay plate for cake

The clay plate for cake is a product of pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc. It is made on a pottery spindle from dark brown clay. It is consistent in shape and colour with the cake pans that you can also find on these pages. It is covered with white clay in the centre. A typical pottery art pattern of lines is carved around the edge, glazed with a gradient dark brown glaze. The cake plate is fired at 1200°C, when the clay turns to stoneware. It is low, with a diameter of 32 cm.

Pottery art clay design by Polona Zajc also has unique clay plates in her collection. They are made exclusively by hand, in different colours of clay and glazes. Some of them have a pattern of holes cut into the rim, which makes them appear fragile. However, all of them are in turn solid due to the high firing temperatures. Some have pure gold applied, which is fired at 800 °C. Even though some are classified as decorative plates, they can be used for serving food. They are made of the finest clays and glazes, fired at the appropriate temperature to ensure a high quality product. After use, the unique clay plates can simply be washed in the dishwasher. The handmade ceramic cake plate is one of them.

Handmade ceramic cake plate

The handmade ceramic cake plate is compatible with the cake pans, which are also products of Polona Zajc's Pottery Art clay design. The rustic plate has a distinctive fluted edge, like traditional pottery pans. It is made on a potter's spindle, following the same process as potters have been doing for centuries. Like the cake pans, the clay cake plate is made of high-quality clay and fired at a high temperature. This makes it higher quality and more sustainable. It is dishwasher safe. Together with the pottery art pot, it will serve you on festive days when traditional Slovenian potica should not be missing on the table.
