It is oval in shape, made in the technique of rolling clay. A floral pattern is hand-carved along the edge. It is painted with different glazes for stoneware. A transparent glaze is applied across the surface to give it a shiny appearance. The white stoneware tray is perfectly suitable for serving food. It is fired at a temperature of 1220 °C. It is 40 cm long and 32 cm wide.

Oval tray with flowers

The Oval Flower Tray is a white stoneware tray. I rolled the clay to a thickness of 1 cm. I placed the large surface in a plaster mould, which gave the clay an oval shape. When the clay had hardened enough to hold the tray, I sculpted a floral pattern around the edge. I hand painted each of the spaces between the lines that were created when the pattern was drawn. I used different shades of glazes. Over the painting I applied a colourless glaze. The result is a beautiful tray with a richly coloured floral pattern. It is designed for serving food, as it is perfectly usable in the household. Or it can serve as a beautiful decorative stoneware object, brightening up any room or piece of furniture with its rich colour pattern.
