Description
Ceramic raku balls
The ceramic raku balls are a set of three round-shaped containers. They are handmade from a special white clay, designed for the production of items made in the raku technique. They are glazed in orange, with a glaze that is also intended for firing in the raku technique. Raku technique is a special way of firing clay. It originated in Japan, where it has a rich tradition. The clay pots are baked in a rapid process and removed from the kiln while still firing. They are transferred with tongs into an unfired container with ashes, leaves or other burning material. Cover the pan and the smoke from the burning is drawn into the fired clay and into the cracks formed in the glaze. This in turn creates beautiful patterns.
