Mars' Labyrinth on a Plate

Mars’ Labyrinth on a Plate is part of a series of labyrinths engraved on ceramic plates. The ceramic works by Pottery Art—Polona Zajc’s clay designs—also feature depictions of labyrinths of all kinds. This particular labyrinth is the Mars Labyrinth, or the Labyrinth of Energy, in its natural, expressive form. The plate is handcrafted on a potter’s wheel from black clay. The symbol of the energy labyrinth is carved into it. It was fired at a temperature of 1210°C. The clay plate features various carved patterns painted with colored glazes, while the labyrinth is glazed with a dark red glaze. The details are accented with real gold. The plate has a diameter of 31 cm. The labyrinth design gives the piece special significance, both for the person who owns it and for the environment in which it is placed.

Polona Zajc’s pottery art collection features clay plates. Each clay plate represents its own labyrinth design. These are sources of power that are very much active. Having power does not mean having access to a large amount of energy, but also having access to a great deal of intelligence. And this is how labyrinths work. We can also “walk” through these as we follow their paths, drawn or carved into the clay.

The Labyrinth of Mars or the Labyrinth of Energy

The Labyrinth of Mars or the Labyrinth of Energy is characterized by its center, which forms a sort of open heart. The path to the center is the path to the inner warrior. And indeed, this labyrinth is largely associated with the heart, courage, dedication, ideals, protection, and justice. Its element is fire, its color is red—the color of blood—its direction is south, and its natural form is expressive. The usefulness of the energy labyrinth comes into play when a person finds themselves in a situation that requires decisiveness, ambition, steadfastness, and even a certain kind of assertiveness. Passing through the Mars labyrinth will eliminate numerous negative phenomena within and around us. These include widespread aggression, rudeness, and selfishness.
